Chemical peels are applied topically to remove damaged outer layers of skin for the face and body to revive the skin without the use of lasers or other minimally invasive procedures. As old cells slough off after a peel, the growth of new, healthy cells are accelerated, and the appearance of the skin is significantly improved. If you are looking to add to your regular facial and body treatments, an in-office chemical peel is a great option to keep your skin looking fresh and radiant. When completed in a series, chemical peels stimulate the production of collagen and elastin in turn leave you with healthier, younger looking skin.

There are many types of chemical peels that aim to improve various concerns like fine lines, discoloration, scarring and uneven texture. We offer a range of chemical peels with different prescription strength ingredients/actives to help remove dull, dead skin and reveal healthy, radiant skin underneath, no matter your skin type. Light chemical peels are ideal for minor skin imperfections and unwanted pigmentation. However, deeper peels can be used to treat conditions such as acne, stubborn melasma and scarring.

SkinMedica Illuminize Peel™
A lighter peel, the Illuminize Peel™ is ideal for the superficial treatment of sun damage, dark spots, wrinkles, and other common concerns that occur in aging skin. This peel’s main ingredients include salicylic acid, phytic acid, and alpha-hydroxy acid. Within hours after an Illuminize Peel™, skin looks and feels noticeably tighter. Due to its gentleness, this peel is safe for all skin types and produces no downtime, which makes it perfect for a pre-event pampering treatment.


SkinMedica Vitalize Peel®
Gentle but a bit stronger than other peels, the Vitalize Peel® can reverse signs of aging and sun damage. With ingredients like alpha-hydroxy acid, beta-hydroxy acid, retinoic acid, and resorcinol, the Vitalize Peel® is suitable for all skin types. This medium strength peel will evoke peeling that lasts a few days, after which the skin looks and feels supple and vibrant.

Our chemical peel appointments are booked for 40 minutes if it is a standalone service. If it is booked with a dermaplane (highly recommended to better prepare the skin for the appointment and enhance results!), the combination treatment is 50 minutes.
You won’t but our clinicians will! Every client has an initial consultation where we review your concerns, assess your skin, and create a custom treatment plan with our professional recommendations. Chemical peels are categorized by how deeply they penetrate the skin: light, medium, or deep. The type and depth of chemical peel administered will depend on your skin type, concerns, Fitzpatrick type, and skincare habits. We discuss all treatments that you may benefit from for optimal results and enhanced skin health. All aesthetic treatments are not created equal which is why we have numerous peels and resurfacing treatments we can choose from. It is important to discuss your goals and time frames with one of our providers given that these treatments have various downtimes.

There are many ways to enhance and extend your chemical peel results. At your initial consultation, we send you home with instructions explaining how to best prepare for your upcoming appointment and what to expect after your peel with product recommendations as well as what to avoid. Following these instructions is key to a successful treatment.

Chemical peels can be administered in between facial services and laser treatments or used in conjunction with other collagen stimulating treatments like Morpheus8 or wrinkle relaxers like Botox and Xeomin. Your in-home daily regimen should also be updated every 3 months to ensure you are using the correct products seasonally that are tailored to your skin type.

Like other facial treatments, peels can be administered as often as every four weeks, similar to a Diamond Glow or Crystal Clear facial as long as your skin is healed from the last treatment you received and there are no current contraindications. Given that peels have different depths, the timing of the peel will depend on the type of peel being used. Light peels can be done every 4-8 weeks, medium peels can be done every 3-4 months while deep peels can be done yearly or every 2 years.
A chemical peel can cause a slight warming or burning sensation but is not considered painful. Our medical aesthetician performing the peel will make sure you are comfortable throughout the procedure. While patients should not feel pain during or after the procedure, the peel may cause the skin to have temporarily increased sensitivity. You may experience some swelling, stinging, redness, irritation, crusting and flaking after your peel. All these sensations are considered normal and should not alarm you.
